Today are the highlights from the last day of the 2014 CLA National Conference in Dallas. The theme of this year’s conference is Kingdom Outcomes.

Key Highlights

• On Wednesday, men and women enjoyed special sessions specific to each of their challenges and needs. The men had a prayer breakfast with Kenny Luck of Saddleback while the women enjoyed a special lunch with Gail Dudley. We also hosted an afternoon Christian Women in Leadership forum, bringing together some of ministry’s top women leaders to be empowered and encouraged in their unique callings.
• Nancy Ortberg was the keynote speaker at our morning General Session, where she encouraged ministry leaders not to neglect the strategy, goals, and measurement required to run an excellent organization that is both missional and healthy. Nancy also introduced a new element of the conference, CLA Talks, featuring three different speakers giving 10-minute high level topical talks on various areas of ministry. Shirley A.  Mullen (Houghton College), Dr. Tony Evans (Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship), and Mark Hanlon (Compassion International) challenged us to serve bigger and better.
• After another day of learning with workshops and sessions, we held a celebratory closing banquet where Rich Stearns of World Vision was the keynote speaker. In his first public appearance since the recent controversy around the organization’s hiring policy, Rich gave a beautiful example of humble leadership, admitting the challenge of balancing truth and grace, and apologizing for any division among Christians around the controversy. He showed how leaders can be transparent, humble, honest and growing, all with a Kingdom mindset.
•  Finally, we’re so “Happy” you came to CLA 2014 that we couldn’t help dancing! We had an amazing week in Dallas, with life-changing messages from our speakers, higher knowledge and thinking through our many ITIs, Academies, workshops, and of course, greater collaboration and community. We are so encouraged by what God is doing and the amazing leaders committed to his mission, committed to learning, and committed to Kingdom Outcomes. We hope you’ll join us back in Dallas next year!
