It’s time for Christian leaders who are committed to lifelong learning to head back-to-school!

The Fall Term for the CLA Online Academy starts in September and there are a dozen dynamic modules being offered.

Logo.CCNLGreyThis Fall, CLA is pleased to introduce the NEW CCNL1 Leadership Module. This module covers both leadership and board governance and is the first of three new modules required for all those enrolled in the CCNL program.

1. Board Governance: Biblical Foundations of Governance

Faculty: Randal G. Dick

Randal Dick is the Founder of Profit Environment LLC and a Special Assignment Consultant with Design Group International™ where he helps a wide variety of business and Christian leaders overcome challenges and maximize success. Randal is a graduate of The Governance Academy and has been personally trained by John and Miriam Carver, two of the world’s leading authorities on corporate and nonprofit governance. He served on boards in five countries and has trained and coached boards in over a dozen countries

2. Executive Leadership: Leadership Basics

Faculty: Mark L. Vincent

Mark L. Vincent is CEO of Design Group International, an organizational development company he co-founded in 2001 to help organizations and their leaders discover clarity and implement solutions. Out of a successful career in pastoral ministry, project management and leadership development, Mark co-founded Design Group International, a firm that helps organizations and their leaders discover clarity and implement solutions.

3. Executive Leadership: The Executive and Board Relationship

Faculty: Rebekah Basinger

Rebekah Burch Basinger is an independent consultant for board development and fundraising and also a Governance Mentor with the Association of Boards in Theological Education (In Trust). Rebekah’s consulting practice and her mentor work with In Trust has been enriched by her experiences on the boards of numerous organizations over the past 30 years, beginning with her children’s daycare center, extending to MAP (Medical Assistance Programs) International and ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability), and continuing today with the US Foundation of the Theological College of Zimbabwe and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) International (board chair).

4. Executive Leadership: Starting a Christ-Centered Nonprofit

Faculty: Michael Martin

Michael Martin serves as ECFA‘s director of member services and legal counsel. He graduated with a bachelor of arts in government, summa cum laude, from Oral Roberts University and juris doctor from Regent University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Regent University Law Review. Michael is passionate about helping churches and Christ-centered nonprofits with legal and tax-related issues and compliance with ECFA standards.

5. Financial Management: Accounting Basics for Ministries

Faculty: Rachel McMichael

Rachel is responsible for providing supervision and guidance to the senior staff and senior associates at CapinCrouse during the attestation and audit engagement process. She works closely with our clients and often functions as the primary contact to assist clients in getting their day-to-day accounting questions answered. In addition to her audit responsibilities, Rachel also oversees the Southeast tax practice.

6. Financial Management: Big Picture Financial Management

Faculty: Taborah Miley

Taborah serves key clients of the firm and is an audit manager in the Columbia office. Prior to joining CapinCrouse in 2010, Taborah worked for five years in two regional CPA firms, where she held audit staff and senior roles servicing not-for-profit organizations and for- profit companies, including publicly traded companies. She has more than ten years of experience providing audit and review services to various not-for-profits, including colleges and universities, churches, foundations, international mission organizations, relief and development organizations, and government agencies.

7. Internet & Technology: Creating A Mobile Ministry: Mobile Ministry Introduction and Relevance

Faculty: Antoine R.J. Wright

Antoine RJ Wright has been described as a mobile technology enthusiast, entrepreneur, user interface designer, and mentor. He has participated in developing innovative approaches in web/graphic design, user experience design, and accessibility across mobile and other computing devices for educational, private, and governmental organizations. The primary voice behind Mobile Ministry Magazine (MMM, Twitter (@mobileminmag)), Antoine is pioneering an approach to understanding mobile devices, social web services, and their resulting effects within faithbased communities.

8. Marketing Communications: Fundamentals of Marketing

Faculty: Nick Palmiotti

Nick is an accomplished marketing professional with a broad range of experience in both for-profit and non-profit sectors. His career accolades include the work on the renewed interest of the Pueblo Riverwalk project in Southern Colorado and media and marketing planning for Professional Bull Riders (PBR). Nick has also developed marketing strategy for nationally televised sporting events on NBC and CBS. Nick joined the team at DoMoreGood in 2012 as a marketing strategist, where he serves non-profit and for-profit clients with a heart from making the world a better place.

9. People Management & Care: Employment Law, Ethics & Employee Relations

Faculty: Cathie Cowie

Cathie is a managing owner and the CEO of Alston-Kline, Inc., an organizational development consulting firm, since 1988. Prior to leading Alston-Kline, Inc., Cathie was the Director of Employment at World Vision, Inc., a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities in over 100 countries, a VP of Human Resources at Pacenet/Satellite Business Systems a satellite communications corporation, Director of Human Resources in retail, and a News Producer in broadcasting.

10. People Management & Care: Practically Applying the 5 Languages of Appreciation in Your Work Place

Faculty: Dr. Paul White

Dr. Paul White is a Christian psychologist, author, speaker, and consultant who has worked with families, businesses, schools, and ministries for the past 20 years. Dr. White coauthored The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace with Dr. Gary Chapman (author of the #1 NY Times bestseller, The 5 Love Languages). Since its release in 2011, it has sold over 100,000 copies and has been translated into nine languages. Based on their extensive research and expertise, Dr. White and Dr. Chapman have developed a unique way for organizations to encourage employees that decreases cynicism, improves staff relationships, reduces staff and volunteer turnover, and creates a more positive workplace environment.

11. Resource Development: Growing Grant Income

Faculty: Amy Karjala

Amy Karjala is an experienced nonprofit leader whose background covers philanthropy from many sides – from student to trainer, fundraiser to donor and from grant seeker to grant maker. She currently leads curriculum development for Mission Increase Foundation, which provides training, coaching and granting centered on a Biblical-based fundraising model. As a writer, trainer and consultant, she also works with nonprofits around the United States in all areas of fundraising and organizational development.

12. NEW: CCNL: CCNL1 Leadership   

Faculty: Tami Heim

Tami Heim has been the president and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance, headquartered in San Clemente, CA, since January 2012. Her professional career includes executive leadership experience in the technology, marketing, publishing and retail industries. She has served as a partner in The A Group – Brand Development, executive vice president and chief publishing officer for Thomas Nelson Publishers, and as the president of Borders, Inc.. Actively involved on the boards of Lead Like Jesus, Christian Alliance for Orphans, and Growing Leaders, she has a passion for Christian leadership development.
