OUR VISION
Every Christian leader is thriving.
Leaders thrive as they steward their lives for Christ-honoring excellence, influence, and impact!
- We witness Christ-honoring excellence as leaders grow personally while seeking outcomes that bring honor and glory to God.
- We experience Christ-honoring influence as leaders apply a biblical worldview to transform how others think and lead.
- We celebrate Christ-honoring impact as leaders allow God to work through them to achieve his kingdom purposes in our world.
Christian Leadership Alliance is a community of leaders who invest deeply and selflessly in one another. We affirm the unique, God-given design of all leaders and long for every Christian leader to thrive for God's glory in all situations and circumstances.
OUR MISSION
We exist to equip and unite leaders to transform the world for Christ.
The Alliance is a community of Christian nonprofit professionals called to join God's transformational work worldwide. We serve in Christian ministries, churches, educational institutions, and as nonprofit service providers.
We come together to become together through practical, biblically based thought leadership, creating life-changing connections and kingdom-minded collaboration spaces.
Equip
The Alliance creates spaces and places for nonprofit professionals across all levels and organisations to trade with thought leaders, experts, and seasoned practitioners. The entire community stands ready and willing to invest in each other. We curate resources and experiences that build mission-critical competencies and expand leadership capacity.
As a community, we contribute practical knowledge and focus on the eternal outcome. We wrestle with the day's issues while considering tomorrow's opportunities. We strengthen spiritual foundations with inspiration and application so that when God says go, we go fast.
Unite
We are a closely knit community of kindred spirits connected and united by our calling. We're compelled by Christ's example and convicted by our imperfections, yet confident in his grace.
We strive together to become faithful agents of transformation. We desire to become faithful stewards of God's promises to our fellow man. Whenever we gather, we expect to grow, be challenged, and be sharpened for God's purpose and glory.

Our Statement of Faith
- We believe the Bible to be God's inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word.
- We believe that one God is eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His return in power and glory.
- We believe that salvation for the lost and sinful comes solely through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, which leads us to faith and trust in Jesus Christ's atoning work.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian can live a godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they are lost unto the resurrection of damnation and saved unto the resurrection of life.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Journey
It all began on March 20, 1976, when a group of 20 financial executives met for the first time in a small meeting room inside the old Rodger Young Auditorium in Los Angeles. That meeting became the first of many meetings of the Christian Financial Executives. Association.
The founders identified a genuine need among nonprofit ministry leaders for professional growth and a practical understanding of all business fundamentals; they were compelled to share what they knew with those who had not yet learned it. Their ultimate goal was to provide practical training from a biblical perspective on how to run better Christian organizations.
The community evolved and grew, changing its name several times to reflect its mission and values to members more accurately.
Year Evolution of Names

Then, in 2008, the Christian Management Association (CMA) merged with the Christian Stewardship Association (CSA) to become Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA)
Why Christian Leadership Alliance?
Christian
First and foremost, the Christian Leadership Alliance advances kingdom outcomes. Everything we do has that as our top priority. We believe there is no better way to help advance the kingdom's work today than by investing in the Alliance's work to strengthen organizational effectiveness across the Christian nonprofit world.
Leadership
The Christian nonprofit world faces a looming leadership gap. We believe developing well-equipped Christian leaders is the most vital need of Christian nonprofits today. By equipping leaders to lead Christian nonprofits towards excellence, we impact the kingdom's work worldwide.
Alliance
Collaboration is critical. We believe working together, united in a common outcome, is more critical than ever in the Christian community. "Alliance" describes our collaborative nature.
For five decades, Christian Leadership Alliance has supported the leadership development construct for Christian nonprofit organizations, including World Vision, Cru, The Navigators, Compassion International, The Salvation Army, CRISTA, Joni and Friends, and tens of thousands more.
Since its beginning, over a million leaders have been identified as members of this movement, which continues to be known today as Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA).
