Happy Thanksgiving to You!

Hear the Voices of Gratitude and Thanksgiving

As we gathering in a spirit of thanksgiving, we discover over and over again in God’s Word that he, alone, is worthy of our praise. Our praise, adoration, and thanksgiving brings him delight and increases our intimacy with him. In our praises and adoration, he continues to transform us. In him, we thrive.

God’s Will for Us

In Paul’s letter to the church in Thessaloniki, he makes clear God’s will for us:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. ~ I Thessalonians 5:18

As you prepare for the day when hearts turn in a spirit of gratitude, we invite you to reflect on the sounds of thankful hearts and add your voice to them.

More From the Word

That I may make the voice of thanksgiving heard and may tell of all Your wondrous works. ~ Psalm 26:7

He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God. ~ Psalm 50:23

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. ~Psalm 57:7-9

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. ~ Psalm 95:2

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:15

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. ~ Hebrews 13:15

From the Hearts of Believers

The Christian who walks with the Lord and keeps constant communion with Him will see many reason for rejoicing and thanksgiving all day long. ~ Warren W. Wiersbe

Gratitude as a discipline involves a conscious choice. I can choose to be grateful even when my emotions and feelings are still steeped in hurt and resentment. It is amazing how many occasions present themselves in which I can choose gratitude instead of a complaint. I can choose to grateful when I am criticized, even when my heart still responds in bitterness. I can choose to speak about goodness and beauty, even when my inner eye still looks for someone to accuse or something to call ugly. ~ Henri J. M. Nouwen

Begin by thanking Him for some little thing, and then go on, day by day, adding to your subjects of praise; thus you will find their numbers grow wonderfully; and, in the same proportion, will your subjects of murmuring and complaining diminish, until you see in everything some cause for thanksgiving.  ~ Priscilla Maurice

Cultivate a thankful spirit! It will be to thee a perpetual feast. There is, or ought to be, with us no such thing as small mercies; all are great, because the least are undeserved. Indeed a really thankful heart will extract motive for gratitude from everything, making the most even of scanty blessings.  ~ J. R. MacDuff

I pray for you, that all your misgivings will be melted to thanksgivings. Remember that the shadow a thing casts often far exceeds the size of the thing itself (especially if the light be low on the horizon) and though some future fear may strut brave darkness as you approach, the thing itself will be but a speck when seen from beyond. Oh that He would restore us often with that ‘aspect from beyond,’ to see a thing as He sees it, to remember that He dealeth with us as with sons. ~ Jim Elliot

The most important prayer in the world is just two words long: “Thank you.” ~ Meister Eckhart

Blessings hemmed with praise will not unravel. ~ Anonymous
