Maestro-level Leaders Embarce the Third Turn By Dr. Mark L. Vincent

Is it time for you to become a Maestro-level Leader?

Six years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, I stood on my porch in Idaho and made a video announcing an initiative for Maestro-level leaders.

The Unfolding of a Big Dream

So much has happened since then! Three cohorts completed their four-year journey, including our first CLA member cohort, celebrating their final retreat with their spouses and successors this past week. Here are the faces of some of them who did the hard work to leave a lasting legacy!

Maestro-level Leaders celebrate the finish line!

The second CLA cohort is two years in, and we are prepping for the next cohort. The great news is there may still be a place for you! I am excited that Andrew Stern, the former Executive Director for Restore St. Louis, will co-facilitate this new cohort with me. Andrew is a Maestro-level leader graduate who knows the value of this experience! He is now ready to invest in others, so they benefit, too.

Leaders On Mission

The mission of this initiative is the learning and development of accomplished executives. This experience occurs when a leader moves toward creating future value. It includes planning for succession and legacy on behalf of the organizations they serve.

We believe the last chapters of highly successful executive careers are best spent building future value for others.

We are not alone in our concern about this challenging moment. If not given the proper attention, it’s a time that can destroy careers, companies, and ministry organizations. If it is not carefully planned and closely guarded. A book we often refer to from the British business community, “Changing Gear,” also makes this case. Authors Jan Hall and John Stokes also refer to this as a third stage of executive life.

Stewarding for Transition Excellence

Figuring it out makes a successful third turn hard work. You will learn to live it out in a uniquely significant way. If executives don’t figure out their Third Turn, much value could be lost. Having the proper companions for this unique journey is crucial. It is our privilege to gather them and to contribute to the outcome.

We can’t wait to see what the next year brings. Perhaps now is the time for you to become a Maestro-level leader!
