A Time to Celebrate Jesus

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

I remember like it was yesterday my oldest daughter, Lindi, when she was only 4 years old, standing at the top of a Christmas tree in a church Christmas program singing,

Happy birthday, Jesus

I’m so glad it’s Christmas

All the tinsel and lights

And the presents are nice

But the real gift is You

Happy birthday, Jesus

I’m so glad it’s Christmas

All the carols and bells

Make the holiday swell

And it’s all about You

Happy birthday, Jesus’

Jesus, I love You!

And then she said in her sweet voice…

I love you, Jesus.

Times of Celebration Brith

Two holidays put bookends on the Gospel and the good news about Jesus:  Christmas and Easter.  On Christmas, we remember Jesus’ virgin birth. Jesus, the Son of God, left heaven and was born a baby in a manger. He lived a perfect life and willingly died on the cross for us.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but shall have eternal life!”

John 3:16

A Time to Celebrate New Life

But His story does not end there. Easter is the story of his resurrection from the dead!  And, if we place our faith and trust in him, we will one day rise to live with Him in heaven for all eternity.

This is the Gospel!  This is good news!!

So, our response to this good news is deep, heartfelt Thanksgiving and worship!  Thank you, Lord, for the gift to us of your Son, Jesus. And we celebrate His birth this Christmas by choosing to worship the babe in the manger as our Lord and Savior.

Happy birthday, Jesus!  I love you!
