Unity Matters To God By Tami Heim
As a Christian leader, you know unity matters to God. Throughout Scripture you see the evidence of God moving his people towards oneness with him. Through his covenant with Abraham, God makes the ultimate promise that seals and leads to salvation, redemption and reconciliation. And that promise was fulfilled through the birth, death and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived in unity with the father and was always present to his mission. In his final hours, Jesus prayed for unity among believers.
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. ~ John 17:21-23, NIV
God’s power is unleashed where there is unity and the Kingdom advances. This alignment of purpose for a single outcome is evident in the story of Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA).
It all began on March 20, 1976, when a group of 20 Christian leaders met for the first time in a small meeting room inside the old Rodger Young Auditorium in Los Angeles. This group called themselves the Christian Financial Executives Association. Little did they know they were igniting a movement that would one day become Christian Leadership Alliance.
These first 20 leaders identified a true felt-need to strengthen Christ-centered leaders and acquire a practical understanding of the fundamental disciplines that would fuel their ministries’ worldwide impact. They gathered with purpose because they shared a single common outcome, to reach the world for Christ.
Now CLA has a rich 40-year history, and many dynamic leaders have invested in the Alliance through the decades. Because of their commitment to excellence, hundreds of thousands of leaders have been united and equipped since that first gathering in 1976.
CLA continues to equip and unite leaders. The experiences and resources it creates are marked by proven best practices based on a biblical worldview. Alliance members who serve across the nation and around the world remain compelled to share what they know with leaders who desire to connect, learn and grow.
This year, April 19-21, 2016, Christian leaders will convene in Dallas, TX for CLA’s annual Outcomes Conference. The theme for 2016 is Perspectives. A great exchange of knowledge and wisdom is planned. Leaders will engage in corporate worship, prayer, and thanksgiving to God. Numerous high-impact ministry leaders are scheduled to share their perspectives on God’s provision and faithfulness – past, present and future.
There has never been a more significant time in the history of this Alliance for Christian leaders to gather. Unity in this time and place is urgent. Being properly equipped for the days ahead is essential.
If you have not registered for the Outcomes Conference, I urge you to do so – today.
