God’s Vision By Howard Rich

Stewards of God’s Vision

By Howard Rich ~

If you are frustrated, angry or heartbroken about the way things are, as opposed to the way they could be, you are probably a candidate for a God-given vision. Leaders with a higher goal are never satisfied just going with the flow and doing things that are ineffective. A vision usually starts to form when a leader is unable to accept things the way they are. As the leader struggles with dissatisfaction, a clear picture of what could be takes shape. This picture is usually just an idea or a dream. An idea or a dream is not a vision.

A God-given vision has a moral aspect to it, which usually takes on a righteous energy. For an idea to become a vision, it must contain a conviction that not only could there be a better way, there should be a better way. The conviction and moral aspect of the idea gives a vision its sense of urgency.

The principle separating a dream from a God-given vision is the cross of Christ. Every person on earth can dream and set goals, but once we accept Christ we become His bondservant; we are not our own. A vision worth living and dying for is one that glorifies God and is His picture of goodness and righteousness.

What God gives us glorifies God and builds His kingdom, not ours. We do not have the right to take the abilities, talents, experiences and opportunities God has given us and run off in our own direction. We lost that right when we chose to place our life in Christ’s hands.

As stewards of God, we must rely heavily on His wisdom and direction lest we take our dreams and pass them off as His revelation. In Isaiah 55:8 He says, “for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” As a leader, I need to constantly accept that my ideas may not be the best use of what my Lord has placed under my care.

Are you an owner of your ideas, or a steward of something bigger that is God-given?
