CLA Ministry Spotlight: The Navigators

 CLA Spotlights Founder’s Council Member:

The Navigators

The Navigators is an international, interdenominational Christian ministry established in 1933. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, The Navigators has spread to more than 100 countries.

The Navigators family includes staff and those who work alongside staff, whose hearts beat with the passion of their motto: “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known®.” They are a community of hundreds of thousands of everyday people who influence others for God’s glory in our normal pathways of life.

Their mission is to advance the gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through life-on-life mentoring—or disciplining—relationships with people, and equipping them to do the same for others. It’s what they call “generational multiplication,” as described in 2 Timothy:

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others (2 Timothy 2:2 NIV).

The men and women of this ministry spend hours with new believers individually and in small groups. They study the Bible, pray, encourage, counsel, and teach. It is a life on life ministry.

This faith ministry is supported by the contributions of individuals and churches. Field staff—those directly involved in grassroots ministry—raise their own financial support.

From the beginning, The Navigators have sought not only to reach people for Christ but to equip them so that they, in turn, can help fulfill Christ’s commission.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20,NIV).
