All Praise and Thanks to God

All praise and thanks to the One Who is worthy!

We discover over and over again in God’s Word that He, alone, is worthy of our praise. Our praise, adoration, and thanksgiving brings Him delight and increases our intimacy with Him.
In Paul’s letter to the church in Thessalonica, he makes clear God’s will for us:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

~ I Thessalonians 5:18

As you prepare for the day when hearts turn in a spirit of gratitude, we invite you to reflect on the sounds of thankful hearts and add your voice to them:

He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God. ~ Psalm 50:23

The Christian who walks with the Lord and keeps constant communion with Him will see many reason for rejoicing and thanksgiving all day long. ~ Warren W. Wiersbe

No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.~ Ambrose of Milan

That I may make the voice of thanksgiving heard and may tell of all Your wondrous works. ~ Psalm 26:7

True thanksgiving means that we need to thank God for what He has done for us, and not to tell Him what we have done for Him. ~ George R. Hendrick

Thou who hast given so much to me, give me one more thing – a grateful heart! ~ George Herbert

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. ~ Psalm 95:2

Blessings hemmed with praise will not unravel. ~ Anonymous

Strength, rest, guidance, grace, help, sympathy, love – all from God to us!! What a list of blessings! ~ E. Steinbeck

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:15

Gratitude as a discipline involves a conscious choice. I can choose to be grateful even when my emotions and feelings are still steeped in hurt and resentment. It is amazing how many occasions present themselves in which I can choose gratitude instead of a complaint. I can choose to grateful when I am criticized, even when my heart still responds in bitterness. I can choose to speak about goodness and beauty, even when my inner eye still looks for someone to accuse or something to call ugly. ~ Henri J. M. Nouwen

Begin by thanking Him for some little thing, and then go on, day by day, adding to your subjects of praise; thus you will find their numbers grow wonderfully; and, in the same proportion, will your subjects of murmuring and complaining diminish, until you see in everything some cause for thanksgiving.  ~ Priscilla Maurice

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. ~Psalm 57:7-9

Cultivate a thankful spirit! It will be to thee a perpetual feast. There is, or ought to be, with us no such thing as small mercies; all are great, because the least are undeserved. Indeed a really thankful heart will extract motive for gratitude from everything, making the most even of scanty blessings.  ~ J. R. MacDuff

I pray for you, that all your misgivings will be melted to thanksgivings. Remember that the shadow a thing casts often far exceeds the size of the thing itself (especially if the light be low on the horizon) and though some future fear may strut brave darkness as you approach, the thing itself will be but a speck when seen from beyond. Oh that He would restore us often with that ‘aspect from beyond,’ to see a thing as He sees it, to remember that He dealeth with us as with sons. ~ Jim Elliot

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. ~ Hebrews 13:15

The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.”  ~ W.T. Purkiser

That I may make the voice of thanksgiving heard and may tell of all Your wondrous works. ~ Psalm 26:7

The most important prayer in the world is just two words long: “Thank you.” ~ Meister Eckhart
