Presentation Key Points
Biblical Text: 2 Timothy 2:1-2
You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
If you want to have a ministry that outlives you, don’t execute the ministry yourself, equip others to do the ministry with you.
Paul gave Timothy three core challenges:
- Abide in the power of Christ
- Invest intentionally in the people of Christ
- Repeat the pattern and process of Christ
Until you admit you don’t know everything, you can’t learn anything.
When you decide to entrust others with the ministry, look for these characteristics: FAITH.
- Faithfulness in deed and action
- Availability to learn and serve
- Intentional in word and deed
- Teachable spirit
- Hunger for God’s Word and will
Too often we teach people what they are saved from, but we miss telling them what they were saved for!
The fruit of an effective leader is not merely followers, but how many leaders you raise up for the future.
We can’t expect to experience the ministry blessings of Jesus’ ministry and divorce ourselves from the methods that Jesus used.
Jesus’ life was just as inspired as his words.
If you become someone’s savior, then Jesus never can be.
If you know you have one year left, spend all your time selecting and equipping those who will carry on.
There are only three things that are eternal:
- His Word
- Souls of People
More About Robby Gallaty
Robby has served as Long Hollow’s Senior Pastor since 2015. He wasn’t always a pastor, though.
For three years, he battled a drug addiction that ravaged his life. A $180 a day heroin and cocaine addiction forced him to steal $15,000 from his parents. After living without gas, electricity, and water for months, losing 8 of his friends to drug related deaths, watching 6 friends arrested, and completing two rehab treatments, Robby remembered the gospel that was shared with him by a friend in college and was radically saved on November 12, 2002.
Eight months later, David Platt, a seminary student and church member at the time, asked Robby to meet weekly for accountability, prayer, and bible study. For the next 2 years, David installed a passion for missions, expository preaching, and disciple-making in his life. He also encouraged Robby to go back to school to pursue theological education.
Robby completed his Masters of Divinity Degree in Expository Preaching in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Preaching in 2011 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Today, Robby’s gospel conviction and evangelistic zeal drive him to passionately “make disciples who make disciples.”
