Discernment or Faultfinding By Dr. Bob Snyder

What’s the difference between discernment and faultfinding?

Discernment is the judgment that God encourages as I seek His guidance, whereas faultfinding often finds its roots in my feelings and opinions. This tendency to find fault often arises out of my sense of inadequacy – my need to be right and superior to someone else. When I do not use the Word of God as the source of my convictions, the depravity of my heart is revealed.

For the Word of God is living and active… it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

For me, faultfinding comes much more easily than discernment. Anger, unrest and broken relationships are often the fruit of my “ministry of faultfinding”. However, boldness with humility, peace and reconciled relationships can be the potential fruit of discernment guided by the Spirit of God and His Word.

Will you join me this week as we seek discernment instead of faultfinding?

Sharing the journey with you.
